The primary function of a towel rail is to warm & dry towels however as a secondary function they can also provide a limited source of heat to a room. The heat output of a towel rail is usually referred to as its BTU (British Thermal Units) which is defined as the amount of heat energy required to heat one pound of water by one degree.
